A very
rare photograph from Jack Howard's collection depicts an Adastra crew
in company uniform in front of Anson VH-AGG. Note that the aeroplane is
still wearing its original helmet cowls. Also note the inscription "Air
Survey Unit No. 2". The crew are (left to right) Joe Linfoot (Pilot),
Tom Carpenter (Engineer) and Jack Howard (Navigator/Camera Operator).
Tom Carpenter's papers, which include a copy of this photograph, state
that the Anson is VH-AGG and that the photograph was taken in October
1945 just before the aircraft departed Mascot to enter service on the
contract to survey the entire state of Victoria. |
