Hudson
VH-AGE outside Adastra's Hangar 13 at Mascot. This photo was probably
taken in late 1962 as the aircraft was about to enter service with Adastra.
At this time, the aeroplane was equipped for aero magnetic survey with
a towed bird under the belly. (It wasn't until April 1963 that VH-AGE
was equipped for photographic survey). Although the aeroplane has been
fitted with a transparent nose cap, it is yet to acquire the single nose
window in the upper forward position which was a unique feature of VH-AGE.
It is likely that the need for this window would have emerged soon after
the aeroplane entered service when the navigator would have found it difficult
to sight the next run during turns. Note also the red registration. Photo: Ron Cuskelly Collection (AI289) |
