| A handwritten note at the foot of this page identifies the two gentlemen examining the magnetometer bird as Maurie Miller (left) and Les Snape (right). The source of this photocopy of the article is uncertain but Doug Morrison believes that it may have come from Maurie Miller. The pilot wearing the oxygen mask is identified as Ken Rowlands and he is said to be "keeping close watch on the altimeter" (which reads zero!). The camera operator is identified as Kevin Pavlich. Curiously, the caption identifies the "navigator" in the nose position as Ken Rowlands and yet the photographs show that there were simultaneously a pilot in the cockpit and two personnel in the nose compartment. Another anomaly has navigator and camera operator, both wearing oxygen masks while "checking the camera before setting out on a flight." |
